Best-results engine (both APIs, every screen)

Region is detected from the device locale, then sent to both APIs. TMDB never decides availability. MotN never replaces posters/ratings.

• Home trending: TMDB trending/popular for that language, then MotN availability in that country. Drop titles with no offer. Sort: on your services first, then TMDB popularity.
• Today’s counts: MotN /changes?change_type=new per catalog in the country (Netflix 7, Prime 19…).
• Upcoming: MotN /changes?change_type=upcoming (Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Max, Apple TV, Mubi). TMDB upcoming as extra, still MotN-checked.
• Top on a service: MotN /shows/top?country&service (official Netflix/Prime/Disney/Max/Hulu/Apple top 10 in that country).
• Leaving: MotN change_type=expiring on the user’s catalogs.
• Search: TMDB search → MotN by TMDB id for the country → badge “On your services” / “In your region” / hidden if nowhere.
• Title page: TMDB details + videos. MotN /shows/movie/tmdbId or series id. Group offers: Your services → Other in region. Deep link from MotN only.
• Fallback: if MotN is down, show TMDB metadata and “Availability unavailable” — do not invent Netflix badges from TMDB watch/providers (conflicts). If TMDB is down, MotN show object still has titles/posters for that row.

Region first — auto-detect, then your services

On launch, CineKeep detects country from the device region/locale (not GPS, no location permission). A confirm sheet: “United States — change?” The user then picks the streaming services they subscribe to. Both live in Settings. Every feed — trending, upcoming, new, leaving, search, where-to-watch — is that country. Services not offered there are hidden.

Search any movie or series

Type-ahead search against TMDB. Results show poster, year, type (movie/TV) and a first-pass “on your services” hint. Opening a result loads full details plus streaming offers for the selected country.

Where to watch

On every title: a list of offers in the user’s country — subscription, free with ads, rent, buy. Each row shows service name, quality (SD / HD / UHD when reported), audio/subtitle languages when the API provides them, and a deep link that opens the official app or website of that service. Offers on services the user did not select are still visible in a secondary “Other services” group so they can discover a title they would otherwise miss.

Title details

Poster, backdrop, overview, genres, runtime, release year, content rating when available, TMDB score, cast and key crew, seasons/episodes for series, and trailers via TMDB videos. Clear TMDB attribution on the screen and in About.

Home — like a regional Upflix

Built around the detected region. Top: region chip (tap to change) + your services. Featured title you can watch. Today’s release counts per service (e.g. 7 Netflix, 19 Prime). Rows: Trending in [country], Upcoming in [country], New on your services, Leaving soon, Free in region, Keep. Same idea as Upflix — what’s new, what’s leaving, where to watch — always local, never a US-only dump if the user is elsewhere.

What’s new

MotN /changes?change_type=new for the user’s catalogs in their country. Filter chips per service. Cards: TMDB poster + rating, MotN service badge and day added.

Leaving soon + upcoming

MotN expiring for leaving, upcoming for what’s arriving (Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Max, Apple TV, Mubi). Sorted by date. Keep items that are expiring in this region get a warning badge.

Keep list

Save any title. Stored on-device in v1 (no account). Shows current availability for each saved item so a Keep title that left Netflix but landed on Max is obvious. Remove in one tap. The brand name is the verb: Keep.

Follow a series

Follow a TV show on the device. When a new episode is detected via TMDB/MotN, the user can opt into a local OS notification. No Firebase, FCM or CineKeep push server.

Alerts

Optional on-device notifications only: daily new titles, leaving-soon digest, new-episode follows. Off until the user opts in. Implemented with iOS/Android local notifications after a TMDB/MotN refresh. No marketing push. No third-party push SDK.

Filters and browse

Browse by genre, decade, movie vs series, minimum TMDB score, free-only, and “on my services only”. Powered by TMDB discover plus availability filtering.

Pick for me

A short swipe or tap stack drawn from titles available on the user’s services, optionally narrowed by genre or runtime. One “yes” opens Where to watch. Built for the “we cannot decide” moment. No social matching in v1.

Free titles

When the country includes ad-supported services (for example Tubi or Pluto TV), a Free row and a Free filter surface those offers so users can watch without another subscription.

Language

App UI in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean and Arabic (RTL). Follows device language with an in-app override. Legal documents on this website; English is the controlling legal language.

Settings

Country, services, language, notification toggles, appearance (dark is default; follow system), About with TMDB and Movie of the Night attribution, links to Privacy, Terms and Support on this website, and a “Clear local data” control that wipes Keep, follows and preferences.

No account

No sign-in, no email capture, no cloud sync. Keep lists and series tracking stay on the device. If accounts are ever added later, in-app account deletion will ship in that same version (Apple and Google require it).

Always free

CineKeep is free worldwide, including the United States. No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no paywall. “Free” means free. Series tracking, Keep, search and where-to-watch are all included.

Design

Dark product UI matching this website: black surfaces, SF Pro on Apple devices and Figtree elsewhere (Product Sans–like), champagne gold accent, the CineKeep bookmark-screen mark as the app icon. Minimal chrome. Large posters. Service names in text, not unofficial logos unless licensed.

Store and legal wiring

In-app links to https://cinekeep.net/privacy, /terms and /support (Apple 5.1.1 requires the privacy link inside the app). Privacy labels and Play Data safety must match the Privacy Policy: only TMDB and MotN, no tracking, no purchases. Age 13+ / Teen. No IDFA, no ATT prompt.

What we will not ship

No in-app video player, no unofficial streams, no torrenting, no APK sideloading of other apps, no scraping of Netflix or similar, no claiming affiliation with those brands. Deep links only. That is both a product rule and a store-compliance rule.
